Living in rural Ontario allows me to be near our sources of materials. Trees are a unique flora. They provide our planet with lungs and filters. They moderate climate, build soil, shelter life, and provide food. The way we work with them preserves their beauty and wholeness allowing us to feel their strength and patience. The Solid Woodwork Logo Trees seek fullness and perfection, and our work seeks the same. This striving is represented in the slope of the hill. When selecting wood, we prefer hard woods like maple, ash, or mahogany. Thus hard wood is higher on the slope. This is because it is more durable than soft woods like beech, pine, or cedar. The geometric symbols suggest simplicity and the perfection of these species. I often seek the company of growing trees for spiritual nurture, balance of the soul and the emotional calm that has become increasingly necessary in our world.
